Comataidh ionadail a’ sireadh luchd saor-thoileach airson Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2016

Leis gu bheil Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2016 dìreach còig seachdainnean air falbh, tha comataidh ionadail a’ Mhòid air a bhith a’ sireadh luchd saor-thoileach a bhiodh deònach a bhith nan stiùbhardan air an t-seachdain mhòr fhèin. Tha Neach-Gairm ùr Comataidh Tallaichean agus Stiùbhardachd, Iain MacArtair, a bhuineas do Chàrlabhagh, misneachail mu na dùbhlain a bhios mu choinneamh fhèin agus a’ chomataidh anns na seachdainnean a tha romhainn.

Mar a mhìnich Iain: “Tha pàirt cudromach dha rìreabh aig na stiùbhardan ann a bhith a deànamh cinnteach gu bheil a h-uile càil a’ ruith mar bu chòir, agus tha feum air grunnan dhiubh, gu h-àraidh aig toiseach an t-seachdain aig àm farpaisean na cloinne. Le suas gu 30 làrach dha cleachdach aig an aon àm, tha e cudromach gu bheil gu leòr dhaoine deònach taic a thoirt seachad. ‘S e dòigh air leth a tha seo a bhith a’ gabhail pàirt sònraichte ann am Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2016 agus fìor bhlas a’ Mhòid fhaighinn. Bhiodh sinn toilichte cluinntinn bho neach sam bith aig a bheil ùidh ann an cànan, ceòl agus cultar nan Gàidheal”.

Ma tha ùidh agaibhse a bhith nur stiùbhard cuiribh fios gu Oifis a’ Chomuinn Ghàidhealaich air 01851 703487 agus leigidh Peigi fios gu Iain MacArtair agus Comataidh Tallaichean agus Stiùbhardach gu bheil sibh air ùidh a chlàradh no faodadh sibh post-d a chur gu Iain

Mod Committee Seeking Stewards for Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2016

With the start date of Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2016 a mere five weeks away, the local organising committee has been searching for willing volunteers who will help with stewarding duties during Mod week. The new Convenor of the Halls and Stewarding Committee, Iain MacArthur, who hails from Carloway, is optimistic about the challenges facing him and his committee in the few weeks that lie ahead.

As Iain explained: “The role of the steward is crucial to the smooth running of this prestigious event and many are needed, in particular at the beginning of the week for the children’s competitions. With up to 30 venues being used at the same time, it is important that we have a healthy bank of enthusiastic and willing stewards. Being a steward is also an excellent way to get actively involved in Mòd nan Eilean Siar 2016 and soak up the fantastic atmosphere. We would welcome anybody who has an interest in the language, music and culture to come forward and offer their services”.

If you are interested in being a steward please contact An Comunn Gàidhealach on 01851 703487 and Peigi will pass your details to Iain MacArthur and the Halls & Stewarding Committee or you can contact Iain by e-mail .

Mod Passengers Encouraged to make advanced bookings for Inverness-Ullapool Coach Service and Island Ferries

The local committee for Mod nan Eilean Siar 2016 along with Caledonian MacBrayne, Police Scotland and the Stornoway Port Authority are encouraging Mod travellers to make bus and ferry bookings as soon as possible.

Norman MacDonald, Chair of the local committee said: “We are delighted that so many people are coming to visit the Western Isles for The National Mod in October and we are thoroughly looking forward to welcoming them. Although the event is still about 6 weeks away, Ullapool to Stornoway and other ferry services will be at full capacity and we are keen to avoid unnecessary congestion and delays. We would urge passengers travelling by car and by foot, to make sure they make bookings well in advance and also check in early at the ferry terminals.

“It is also essential for those intending to use the bus service between Ullapool and Inverness to pre-book to avoid disappointment.”
